Younger school aged children and their moral judgement
Havelková, Lucie ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hrabec, Ondřej (referee)
As the title indicates, our thesis focuses on the moral judgment of children. In analogy to the diploma thesis of Eliška Kuruczová, we as well used situations of social games and stories about lying and unfair authority. The main source for our thesis was Jean Piaget's The moral judgment of the child, published published in 1932, in which Piaget presented the results of his interviews with children. In his research, Piaget stated that moral judgment within dimension of game rules is more complex and requires higher level of orientation in moral issues. But Piaget considers games in general as a competition because of social organization and that's a meeting point where Eliška Kuruczová's bachelor thesis follows on. This thesis examines how different social organization of games influences moral orientation in the issue of games. Thanks to this thesis, which our thesis is based on, we could focus on other questions in Piaget's research that remained unanswered, eg. whether there is a link between the level of orientation in social games and the age of children, or what type of game social organization is the most / least difficult for children's orientation. For triangulation of our research on moral judgment development, we used stories about lying and unfair authority in our interviews. We tried...

Brousilová, Klára ; Boukalová, Hedvika (advisor) ; Kostelníková, Zuzana (referee)
Presented bachelor thesis is mine attempt at highlighting particularities interrogator is confronted with when a role of witness is fulfilled by child up to 15 years of age. In the first chapter I briefly defined term child and interrogation for the purpose of this thesis. Then I specifically focus on core subjects. Preparation for interrogation is understood as arranging appropriate environment for conducting interrogation, setting pleasant atmosphere and proper explanation of legal system and laws. Second chapter is dedicated to communication skills of child witness; particular subsections describe for example conversation rules or child motivations behind lying. In the most extensive chapter regarding suggestibility reader is introduced to well-known suggestive techniques through their definitions, examples and notifications about their harmful effects. The empirical part serves as follow-up to my last theoretical chapter and proposes qualitative research that would examine whether interrogations of child witnesses in Czech Republic exploit suggestive techniques. This dissertation thesis called 'Lie Detection Through Verbal and Nonverbal Behavior' deals with lying and lies from the viewpoint of its types, functions and considering the development of an individual and it describes the role of lying in our lives. Lying itself is not considered as a negative term, but as a type of communication, a social phenomenon, which is a part of our everyday existence. Attention is aimed to verbal behaviour, but especially to nonverbal aspects of lying persons. Then it examines the use of information on lying and lies in the system of forensic psychology during the deception detection tests. It describes historical approaches to lie detection and its current appearance as well as some other aspects, that may be considered lying even if they are not lying at all - false memories or suggestions. The empirical part compares two research designs, one of them trying to find possible personal determinants of successful lie detectors on a group of psychology students and connecting lie detection ability with the concept of emotional inteligence. The second research analyzes the ability to detect deception among Czech police officers as a specific population group, that uses lie detection methods as a means of investigation. Keywords: lying, deception detection, nonverbal...
